Over the past 3 years, universities have found decreasing employability of graduates in tech courses where only 83.5% of those surveyed found full-time permanent employment in 2024, down from 92.8% in 2022. Likewise, proposective employers have feedback that these graudates have skill gaps between what they are trained in school viz what their job requires.
This is because IHLs offering tech degree programmes do not have real-time macro-level data on the skilling requirement of job roles that their courses are training for. In turn, they are unable to form actionable insight into how their curriculum can be tweaked to close up the skill gaps. The result is a graduate population that is not skilled enough to handle jobs roles that they were meant to fill, leading to poor employment outcomes.
